Polar solvent:-A solvent in whose molecules there is either a permanent
separation of positive and negative charges, or the centers of positive
and negative charges do not coincide; these solvents have high
dielectric constants, are chemically active, and form coordinate
covalent bonds; examples are alcohols and ketones .
Non polar solvent:-A liquid solvent without significant partial charges on any atoms, as in the hydrocarbons, or where the polar bonds are arranged in such a way that the effects of their partial charges cancel out, as in carbon tetrachloride. Liquid hydrocarbons are the most common examples.

POLAR SOLVENTS are those compound which has dipole moments which allows compounds which are able to form ion-dipole moments to dissolve.
NON-POLAR SOLVENTS are those compounds which have no polarity,(no dipole moments), such as CCl4.
