• These are usually the solvents which are organic compounds or the solvents which have a similar charge at ions .

• Eg: ethanol , hydrocarbons , petrol , etc.

Polar solvents ;

• Any compound that has an H+ that can be donated by the breaking of compound are called polar solvents.

• Eg: water
• H2O -------> H+ and OH- ions
