Polarisation is a term used in electrochemistry (the branch of science which studies relationship between physics and chemical changes).
It is used to describe chemical changes that are brought about, as a result of physical changes to an object. Polarisation creates barriers at the interface of electrode and electrolyte, resulting in corrosion and deposition.
