=> Transfer of pollen grains from anther to stigma is called pollination.
=>Pollination maintain genetic diversity within a population.
=>Pollination is necessary for some plants or trees to grow fruit.
➡TYPES :-
=> It occurs within the flower or between two flower or same plant's.
=>Plant's don't depend on other agencies for pollination.
=> Pollen grains produce in small number.
=> It occurs between two pants of different plant of same species.
=>Depend on other agencies for pollination like wind, water, insect.

→ The transfer of pollen grains from the anther to the stigma is called pollination .
→ This is the first step in the sexual reproduction of flowering plants .
→ When the anther matures , it bursts open to release pollen grains which are transferred to the stigma of the same flower or other flowers of the same species .
→ Pollination can be of two types - self pollination and cross pollination .
→ When the Pollen is transferred from the anthers to the thickness of the same flower or of flowers borne by the same plant, the process is called self pollination .
→ Self pollination occur in flowers in which the anthers and stigmas mature at the same time .
→ Wheat, barley, oat and peach are some examples of self pollinating plants.
→ Self pollination also occurs in some flowers even before they open.
→ Some species of pansy, balsam, wood sorrel and sage are pollinated this way.
→ When the Pollen is transferred to the stigma of flowers of other plants of the same species, it is called cross-pollination .
→ Cross-pollination occurs in flowers in which the anthers and stigmas mature at different times, and those that have a barrier preventing self pollination.
→ Cross pollination also occurs in plants in which male and female flowers are borne by different plants.
→ Apple, date palm, willow and common primrose are some examples of cross pollinating plants .
→ Various external agents, like the wind, certain animals and water, can carry pollen for self-made or Cross-pollination.
→ Most flowers are pollinated either by the wind or insects.
→ Other animals such as hummingbirds, bats and snails can carry out pollination too.
→ There are 4 extra types of pollination too.
❆ Wind Pollination
❆ Insect Pollination
❆ Water Pollination
❆ Artificial Pollination.
