a substance which has a molecular structure built up chiefly or completely from a large number of similar units bonded together is called polymer.
monomer can be linked in straight lines, branched chains and rings

A polymer a continuous chain of of similar or different molecules.this chain is infinitely long.
Two types if polymers are
1.addition polymer
This type of linkage is just due to shifting of pie bonds
2.condensation polymer
This type polymers are formed due removal of simple groups like water etc... from the two groups undergoing polymerisation
