Becoming a PE teacher requires education and licensure to prepare graduates for leading students of various ages in physical activity. Other physical ed teacher requirements include patience and communication skills while working with students.
A physical education teacher is responsible for teaching health and/or physical education to young students. They may work at the elementary, middle, or high school levels and plan various physical activities and classes for these students. These lesson plans are usually designed to teach students about a physical activity, allow them to practice the activity, and then include some sort of assessment and evaluation of the learned skills. Many PE teachers may also coach different sports teams at the school and, like other teachers, a PE teacher may have other job duties and responsibilities in the school, such as:
