it is the energy possessed by an object by changing it's height.
it is given by formula P.E = m×g×h
where m is mass of object , g is acceleration due to gravity that is 9.8 or 10 , and h is height of object.
I hope it helps you

\huge\sf{\underline{\underline{Potential\:energy :-}}}

It is defined as the energy of a body due to its posititon or change in shape is known as potential energy.

Examples:- i)Water kept in Dam:- It can rotate turbine to generate electricity due to its posititon above the ground.

ii) Bent string of bow:- Potential energy due to change of its shape and released in the form of kinetic energy while shooting an arrow.

Factors affecting potential energy:-

i) P.E \sf\propto m

➜More and more mass of the body, greater is the potential energy and vice-versa.

ii) Height above the ground:- P.E \sf\propto h

➜ Greater the height above the ground greater is the potential energy.

iii) Change in shape:- Greater the stretching, twisting and bending more is its P.E.
