The poverty line is a line or limit set by the government which tells whether a person comes under the middle class or the poor category.The people who are below this line are known as BPL or Below Poverty Line. It was based on minimum daily requirement of 2,400 and 2,100 calories for an adult in rural and urban areas, respectively.
