power is defined as the rate of doing work.when an electric bulb is rated as 15 watts it actually means it consumes energy of 15J/s. 15×600=9000J is used in 10 minutes. SI unit of of power is joule per second.it can be derived as follows:
power=energy÷time
=J÷s=J/per second
