Power is defined as energy per unit time. SI unit of power is Watt.

What is power?

  • Power is referred as the measure of energy which is converted or transferred in unit time.
  • Energy is said to be transferred when work is done on a body or object. Work is done when there is some displacement in the body.
  • Amount of energy that is transferred is directly proportional to the power created.
  • Power is given as Power = \frac{energy}{time}.
  • Power is expressed in Watt which is its SI unit.
  • In short, consumption of energy in unit time is called power.
