ANSWER :-

PROMOTER :-

○ Promotor region provides the site for the attachment of RNA polymerase and several other transcription factors.

○Promotor occurs upstream.

Both the strands of DNA are involved in forming the promoter.

○ The promoter region is present towards 5’end, even though it is in 3’end of the template.

○ The two strands of DNA have opposite polarity.

DNA dependent RNA polymerase catalyse the polymerisation in only one direction, that is, 5’-3’ direction.

○ Therefore the DNA strand that has the polarity 3’-5’ act as template (template strand).

○ The other strand which has the polarity 5’-3’ (act as coding strand) at sequence same as RNA is displayed during transcription.

○ The trand which does not code for anything is termed as coding strand.

○ All the reference point while defining a transcription unit is made with coding strand.
