Public Prosecutor is a person who represents interests of the state in the court. The work of the public prosecutor begins once the police has done the investigation and filed a chargesheet in the court.He/She has no role to play in the investigation. Public Prosecutor must do prosecution on behalf of the state . As an officer of the court he must act impartially and present real and material facts, evidences , witnesses and proofs to enable the court to take the right decision.
The supreme court in early 1980s devised a mechanism of Public Interest Litigation (PIL) to increase access to justice.It allowed any individual or organization to file PIL on behalf of those whose rights have been violated.The legal process was greatly simplified and even a letter or telegram addressed to the court is treated as PIL
