Pulmonary ventilation refers to the total volume of gas taken into the respiratory system during a breath, so alveolar ventilation + deadspaceventilation. ... About a third of one of the A&P classes I've taken waspulmonary physiology, and I've also taken an entire class on the physiology of gas transport in the blood.

Pulmonary ventilation is commonly referred to as breathing. It is the process of air flowing into the lungs during inspiration (inhalation) and out of the lungs during expiration (exhalation). Air flows because of pressure differences between the atmosphere and the gases inside the lungs.
