THERE ARE MANY TYPES OF VEDAS....THEY ARE: THE RIGVEDA , SAMAVEDA, yajur Veda and ARTARVAVEDA . THE OLDEST VEDA IS RIGVEDA .it is composed about 3500 years ago the Rigveda include more than 8000 hymns called sakta well said .....
the Rig Veda is in old or Vedic Sanskrit which is different from Sanskrit you learn in school these days ...the hymns were composed by sages ( risihs) ..and of you where composed by women and most of the hymns were composed, thought and learn by men ....Rig Veda was recited then heard or read ....



PURANAS :
Puranas are ancient Hindu text eulogizing various deities and primarily the divine Trimurti God in Hinduism through divine stories......
