Define Quantum yield. Discuss the reasons for high quantum yield with the help of hydrogen-halogen reaction.

If a reaction obeys the Einstein law, one molecule is decomposed per photon, the quantum yield ϕ = 1. High Quantum Yield: When two or more molecules are decomposed per photon, the quantum yield ϕ > 1 and the reaction has a high quantum yield.
