RAM stands for Random Access Memory. It is a volatile memory, which losses the data when the power gets switched off. There are basically two types of RAM:-

Static RAM and Dynamic RAM

For eg. If you're playing a game in you pc/mobile and suddenly it switches off, then you'll lose the progress of that game. Like if you're playing Hill Climb Racing and have scored 1000 points and suddenly you clear the RAM, then after coming back, you'll have to start from 0 point. That's why, when you leave any game, they warn you, that you'll lose your progress.
