In mathematics, a ratio indicates how many times one number contains another. For example, if there are eight oranges and six lemons in a bowl of fruit, then the ratio of oranges to lemons is eight to six. Similarly, the ratio of lemons to oranges is 6∶8 and the ratio of oranges to the total amount of fruit is 8∶14.

As per question,

We have to define the term Ratio.

As we know that,

Ratio is the fractional representation of two quantities.

When we are supposed to determine the ratio, the unit for both the quantities must be same.

if the unit are different then we need to convert the unit of first quantity in term of the other quantity.

Ratio of disimilar quantities are not determined.

Like if we have to determine the ratio of 1 Kg to 15 L then we can't determine the ratio as the both of the number have different quantity.

Ratio is represented by fraction, or giving a colon ( : ) sign between two or more numbers.

Like ratio of 1 L to 2 L can be written as 1 : 2.
