Recycle Bin is a space where all deleted files and folders are temporarily stored.

  • Since Windows 95, all subsequent versions of Windows Operating System has had the Recycle Bin feature.
  • Since the Recycle bin stores all deleted files or folders, they can be recovered easily, in case the user decides that something has been deleted by mistake.
  • For the convenience of use, the Recycle Bin icon may be found on the desktop.
  • In case the user wishes to permanently delete a file, then SHIFT+ delete option may be used.
  • The contents of the Recycle Bin eventually take up the hard disc space, so once the users are sure that they will no more need the files or folders, they should invoke the 'Empty Recycle Bin' option in order to free the hard disc space of unnecessary files.
