A reference point is a point which you took as your siting place ( You may wanna use a chair :P ) while observing the Nature . For example : IF you drink coffee in your house and from the window you see a boy riding a bicycle and then you measure his velocity , Then your home is the reference point . To Put it more accurately reference point is equivalent to the point 0 on the co ordinate axis.
