A referendum is a direct vote in which the whole electorate votes on a particular proposal or decision.
If there are more number of votes for a particular decision, it may result in the adaption of a new law.
First, A proposal or plan is presented by the federal parliament as bill.
If the bill is passed by the parliament, then the particular proposal is presented as a referendum.
An example of referendum is having people vote on suggested curfew laws.
