The phenomenon, of change in the direction of light rays, when they 'fall' on a polished surface, is called 'reflection of light'.
The two laws of reflection which always govern the reflection of light rays, by any reflecting surface, are as follows : -
(1) The incident ray, the normal at the point of incidence and the reflected ray, all lie in the same plane.
(2) The angle of incidence, and the angle of reflection, are equal to each other.
