When a ray light passes obliquely from a rarer medium to the glass slab the ray of light bend towards the normal........then when the light passes forward it moves from the denser medium to the rarer medium thus the light bends away from normal the light emerged is called emergent ray......the distance between the original ray and emergent ray is called lateral Displacement
