 \bold {Answer :-} Reproduction is the process in which organisms either unicellular or multi cellular produce their offspring in order to maintain their existence.

There are two types of Reproduction. One is sexual and the other is asexual.

Sexual reproduction involves the fusion of both the male and the female gametes whereas in asexual reproduction, offsprings are produced by a single parent.

There are two modes of production :

( i ) Sexual Reproduction

It is characterised by the fusion of two cells called gametes usually coming from two parents. The male and female gametes after fusion give rise to a zygote which develops into a new individual.


( ii ) Asexual Reproduction

It is a type of reproduction which does not involve the union of gametes. New individual is produced from a single parent.

There are several methods of asexual reproduction in animals like binaey fission, budding, fragmentation, etc.
