The resistance of a conductor having unit length and unit cross-sectional area is called specific resistance or resistivity. In other words it can be said that resistance offered by a conductor in the form of a unit cube between its two opposite faces is called its specific resistance or resistivity.
C.G.S unit of resistivity is statohm cm and its S.I unit is ohm-metre.
The property of a conductor by virtue of which it obstructs the passage of electric current through it is called resistance of the conductor.
S.I or practical unit of resistance is ohm. In C.G.S system, unit of resistance is statohm (Stat W).
