The process of acquiring oxygen from outside the body and to use it in the process of break-down of food sources for cellular needs, it is what we call respiration.

--->There are 2 types of respiration:

1. Anaerobic respiration

2. Aerobic respiration.

---->Anaerobic respiration:

The process which takes in the absence of Oxygen is called Anaerobic respiration.

---->Aerobic respiration:

The process which takes place in the presence of air(Oxygen) is called aerobic respiration.

*The release of energy in this aerobic process is a lot greater than in the Anaerobic process.
