Roughage is the fibrous outer covering of a vegetable or a fruit which helps in the cleaning up of the body wastage system rather than contribute any energy to the body.
For example Orange, beetroot, broccoli etc.

Roughage is the fibre in food that is not digested. It helps in proper bowel movement. Roughage is as important as other nutrients as it also absorbs toxins before leaving. Ex. The white, fibrous outer covering of orange is roughage.
