As we know that during the colonial times ( Rule of The English British ) in India The Britishers imposed taxes on almost everything , salt was one of them. The Indian were angry due to these laws and thought to oppose them. Dandi March ( it was a historic movement against the Britishers during the struggle of independence in India). It was led by Gandhi Jii ( Father Of our Nation ). He started an on foot walk from Sabarmati Ashram - Dandi in April 1930 to oppose taxes on salt. He started alone but at the end there were about 100 people with him. They walked almost 390 Km ( 240 miles ) on foot ! There Gandhi Jii picked a handful of salt and opposed the salt law. This movement is also known as Salt March and Salt Satyagrah.
