HEYA MATE !!

ESTERIFICATION:Esterification is the reaction in which a Carboxylic acid combines with an alcohol in the presence of little concentrated sulphuric acid to form an ester.

SAPONIFICATION:On treating with sodium hydroxide, the ester is converted back to alcohol and sodium salt of carboxylic acid. This reaction is known as saponification reaction bcoz it helps in the formation of soaps.

hope it helps

pls mark it as the brainliest answer :)

GOOD LUCK FOR UR BOARD EXAMS !!

          SAPONIFICATION                                                  ESTERIFICATION

1) When an ester is reacted with                         1)When an alochol is reacted

2. In a Saponification reaction there is               2)In an esterification reaction

no need of a catalyst.                                          catalysts are used.

Eg. CH3COOC2H5 + NaOH                                Eg. CH3COOH + C2H5OH

→ C2H5OH + CH3COONa                                          → CH3COOC2H5 + H2O
