The dot product, also called the scalar product , of two vector s is a number .It has only magnitude and no direction. It depends on magnitude of two vectors which are multiplying and cosine of angle between them. A . B = AB (cosine of angle between them). Best example is 'work done by a force' = force . displacement = Fd(cosine of angle between force and displacement)
