a physical quantity which has only magnitude
is called scalar quantity.
a physical quantity which has both magnitude
and direction is called vector quantity.

the quantity which doesn't depends on direction is called the scalar quantity.
for example distance is a scalar quantity.

the quantity which depends on direction is called the vector quantity. for example displacement is the vector quantity.
