kalangs resisted the woodcuterrs who resisted the dutch control by attacking a dutch fort at Joana.
scorched earth policy- before the Japanese occupied the region the dutch destroyed Sawmills and burnt huge piles of giant teak logs so that they would not fall into Japanese hand.
