These all are poetic devices.

SIMILE :

  • simile is a figure of speech on which comparison is made between two objects of different kinds which have however at least one point of comparison.
  • in simile it us usually introduced by such words as like , as or so.
  • EG: as idle as a ship

  • Alliteration is the use of succession of words with the same initial letters or sound.

EG: River Running Round the Race.

- - - --

HERE THE FIRST LETTER IS SAME EVRRYWHERE.

REPETITION

---------------------

  • repetition is the figure of speech in which the words are repeated in the sentence.
  • poets use repetitions because it gives a greater opportunity to understand those words.

Eg : the ICE was there , the ICE was here and the ICE was everywhere.

HERE THE WORD ICE IS REPEATED EVERYWHERE AND HENCE IT IS REPETITION.

ONOMATOPOEIA

----------------------------

  • onomatopoeia is a figure of speech in which the sound is highlighted.

Eg : in the poem the frog and the nightingale the sound made by the frog KOO-AH KOOASH

this is defined as onomatopoeia.

THE SOUND MADE IS JNOWN AS ONOMATOPOEIA.
