Simile is a figure of speech(poetic device) that compares two things using "like" or "as".Simile and metaphor are almost similar, but metaphor don't use "like" or "as" to compare two things.

Examples:-

  • He is very intelligent as Einstein.
  • A fat looks like a round ball.
  • Ice-cream cold as ice.
  • He looks like an animal.

Simile is a figure of speech comparing two unlike things that is often introduced by like or as.

For example:-

  1. As white as snow.
  2. As bold as a lion.
  3. As cold as ice.
  4. As proud as a peacock.

Some extra knowledge:

While both similes and metaphors are used to make comparisons, the difference between similes and metaphors comes down to a word. Similes use the words like or as to compare things—“Life is like a box of chocolates.” In contrast, metaphors directly state a comparison—“Love is a battlefield.”
