Answer:

Simple Harmonic Motion (SHM) is periodic motion which is undriven and undamped. Therefore, an object oscillating in SHM oscillates at its natural frequency. In SHM, a body is forced to return to the equilibrium position by a restoring force and maximum when the object is furthest from the equilibrium position. The restoring force is zero at the equilibrium position and is directly proportional to the acceleration (Newton's 2nd Law). Acceleration is always in the direction towards the equilibrium position and is directly proportional to the displacement from the mean position.
