When the fertile topsoil is carried away by wind water or other means the process leads to soil erosion. Sometimes, excessive also leads to the formation of deserts.

Measures to prevent soil erosion are:

1) planting more plants as plants bind the soil particles tightly and reduce soil erosion.

2)terrace farming

3) practice contour farming

4) avoid overgrazing

5) by not cutting trees in the forest.i.e. deforestation should be avoided.
