Answer:
SOLID: In a solid, the molecules are packed very close to each other. The intermolecular attractive force between the molecules is very strong. Therefore the intermolecular space between the molecules is very small. Thus, the molecules are not free to move. They can only vibrate about their mean positions. This is the reason why solids have fixed shape and size, are rigid and cannot be compressed easily
PROPERTIES OF SOLID:
1. Solids are rigid
2. They have definite shape and volume
3. They cannot flow
4. They cannot be compressed easily
