There are three states of matter :

  1. Solid state of matter is that state in which particles of matter are closely packed and maintain a definite shape and volume Ex:- rock, wood etc
  2. liquid state of matter is that state in which particles are loosely packed and maintain a fixed volume but takes the shape of container in which they are pour Ex:- water , juice etc
  3. Gaseous state of matter is that state in which particles are freely packed and donot maintain any fixed shape or volume Ex:- Air , perfume
