Solid is a state of matter, It has a definite shape and volume. The molecules of solids are tighten up and they don't allow any movement. For example, a chair has a definite shape and size. Solids are rigid and do not flow. We can hold solids in our hands.

Liquid is a state of matter, It has a fixed volume. The molecules of liquids are loosely packed. So it allows some movement of molecules. For example, water is a liquid which moves freely.

Gas is a state of matter. The molecules in gases are much more apart from each other than that of solids or liquids. They can move freely in any direction. They cannot be kept in an open container. For example, the air around us moves freely in any direction. That is why, gases have no fixed shape or volume.
