a sonic boom is a wave associated with the shock waves..which Traves faster than the speed of sound in the air..

Sonic boom is simply a sound which much faster than the speed of sound...When bullet is fired you may heard that bullet leave the barrel first then you heard the sound of bullet...The bullet here make lots of noise during motion....This noise is explosive and so called sonic boom...

Source of Sound is any vibrating body...Sound will not produce at all if a body doesnt vibrate..
For the production of Sound , Body must vibrate...When we speak , Our Vocal cords vibrates...

Even when you hear a ringtone of your phone , touch the speaker nearby you feel a feeble vibration....

For the production of sound medium is required , Medium may be gas , liquid or solid...when a body vibrates , its particles starts oscillating either up and down or Back and forth about its mean position...Due to this reason neighbouring particles also starts oscillating...Further these oscillations of particles carried energy ( Sound )y in the form wave...
