Hi. The square of a number can be defined as follows:

A square of a number is a number which is obtained by multiplying the number with its ownself.

For example,

  • 4 is the square of 2 because 2 times 2 is 4.
  • 9 is the square of 3 because 3 times 3 is 9.
  • 16 is the square of 4 because 4 times 4 is 16.

The square of a number is denoted by a superscript 2 on the right side of the number. For example,

  • x times x = x²
  • 2 times 2 = 2² = 4
  • 3 times 3 = 3² = 9
  • 4 times 4 = 4² = 16

and so on...

Hope you like my answer. Thanks!
