Hey dear!!
A standard unit is a standard measure that remains the same whenever, wherever and by whoever it is used.
Eg. The standard unit of mass is kg.
It is important because:
1. There is always a confusion in measurements as Indians used km and the Americans use miles. So to avoid such confusions we use the standard unit of length which is m.
2. So that all people in the world would understand the same meaning of it.
Hope this helps you... : )
