a wave in which each point on the wave has a constant amplitude, ranging from zero atthe nodes to a maximum, equal to the amplitude of the wave, at the antinodes.

Hey !!!

In physics, a standing wave is also known as a stationary wave is a wave in which its peaks do not move with time.

The amplitude of the wave at a point in space may vary with time, but its phase remains constant.

The point at which the amplitude or height  is minimum are called nodes, and the locations where the height is maximum are called anti nodes.

Standing waves were first noticed by Michael Faraday in 1831.
