Internally , it contains three basic types of tissues:

Functions:

• Produce leaves, branches and flowers.
• Hold leaves up to the sun.
• Transport substances between roots and leaves.
• Primary Growth: cell division in apical meristem.
• Secondary Growth: growth in lateral meristems in conifers and dicots.
