A solution which contains a higher concentration of solute than does a saturated solution at that temperature. A supersaturated solution is metastable.

Supersaturated Solution : As you add a solute (soluble substance) to a given amount of solvent (e’.g., water) at a given temperature, the solute disappears (dissolves) in water to make a solution. If you continue to further add the solute to the solution, there comes a time when the solute does not dissolve any more but stays back as solid. This solution will be called supersaturated Solution.
