A symbiotic association is when a relationship is made between two interacting organisms and an organism is benefited. There are 3 kinds of Symbiotes. One kind is mutualism, where both symbiotes benefit being together. An example of this would be a lichen, the fungus gains nutrients and the alga gets protection and a higher supply of water. Together they can grow in places neither of them could survive in on their own
