In general terms, " Tetany " can be defined as a symptom which is characterised by muscles cramps, spasms or tremors.

• Muscle cramps, spasms and tremors are the repetitive actions of the muscles which happen when the muscles contract uncontrollably

• Tetany may occur in any desired part of the body, such as the face muscles, finger muscles, calf muscles, etc.

• The muscles cramps associated with tetany can be long lasting and painful.

• Serious causes of tetany include severe diarrhoea and kidney deases.

• Low levels of calcium in the body ia a common causes for tetany.

• The medical term used to described low levels of calcium is, " Hypocalcemia ".
