Socialisation is a term used by sociologists to define the activity carried out by an individual of mixing with others. By this social interaction we learn to behave in a manner that is acceptable to society. It is a lifelong process, which teaches us norms, customs, values, ideologies and so on which helps in developing skills and habits that are of vital importance for our existence as a social being. It is thus " the means by which social and cultural continuity are attained". It is said, scientific evidence has shown that a human character is shaped by both social influences as well as his or her genes.
