The Constitution is generally a document that lists the reason of independence, the way they would rule themselves when they are a nation, and what the rights of the people are.
Take for example, The Constitution of India (as I believe you live in India). Attached is a picture of the first page of the Constitution. From this, we can see the core beliefs of the creation of the nation of India "secur[ity] to all its citizens, Justice..., Liberty..., Equality..., Fraternity..., etc" These words show what the government that is created should provide for its citizens, and that the writers and people are under the constitution. It also will list the rights of the people, the limitations of the government, and what would occur when the government oversteps it's boundaries.
