Energy in electromagnetic waves is the half of the energy carried by the electric field in an electromagnetic wave, and the other half is carried by the magnetic field. The amount is generally called the wave's intensity.

Since, the electromagnetic waves are three-dimensional, so the electromagnetic waves  total energy density is equal to the sum of the electric field's energy density and the magnetic field's power density.

Energy can be determined by using the wave equation as - c = λ × ν
