LATITUDE :- The parallel horizontal imaginary lines drawn on the globe
, are called parallels of latitudes or latitudes.
There are 181 latitudes (90 in Northern Hemisphere , 90 in Southern Hemisphere and the Equator)
PRIME MERIDIAN :- 0° Longitude is called the Prime Meridian. It passes from Greenwich, England.
Countries that are on the west of Prime Meridian are ahead the Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) and the countries on the east of Prime Meridian are behind the Greenwich Mean Time.
GMT :- Greenwich Mean Time is the mean solar time at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, London, reckoned from midnight. It is known as World's Standard Time.
India is ahead of GMT by 5:30 hours.
Great Circle :- The Equator is also known as the "Great Circle".
It is 0° latitude dividing (imaginary) the Earth into two hemispheres.
LOCAL TIME :- The time based on the meridian through a specific place, as a city, in contrast to that of the time zone within which the place is located; the time in a specific place as compared to that of another place to the east or west.
IDL :- International Date Line (IDL) is identical to 180° Longitude. It is the boundary between calendar dates.
